We help homeschoolers and schools to sell their gently used curriculum. You bring us books – We send you checks. Most homeschoolers and schools have curriculum and other items that you bought but never used. You have items that are no longer needed, because all your children have passed that grade level. Instead of these things gathering dust on your shelves, let us SELL them for you! This is the simplified version: You bring, or ship your items to be resold to us. Fill out our “Consignment Agreement”; we assign you a Customer Number. This is a 3 month contract between you and us. We actively merchandise your consignments during this 3 month period and we provide you a 60% return for the items sold. You will receive a detailed list of items that have been sold. As an added incentive, I am offering Homeschool Groups 5% cash for using our service during the months of January and February 2007. When signing up, simply provide the name of your Homeschool Group and when your items sell, we will forward 5% of the sales price to your Homeschool group. Here is how it works: Place your books in a box. On the outside of the box, include your name. Inside the box place an index card with your name, address, phone number, and email address. On a separate sheet of paper list the items that you want to sell. I will send you an email to confirm receipt of the items that I received and I will give you an ID number. We will mark your items with your customer number (Please remove any “sale” type stickers from the items). Bring your consignment materials on Tuesday thru Thursday and I will promptly photograph and list them on the internet. At the end of each month, I will mail out detailed information on what item(s) were sold, along with a check for the items. We handle payment processing and shipping to the buyer. You simply sit back and receive the checks. You can also mail items to me. To do this, box up your items, and remember to enclose an index card with your name, address, phone number, and email address (do this for each box that you send). On a separate sheet of paper list the items that you want to sell. To keep your shipping inexpensive, media mail is best (we do not reimburse for your shipping costs). I will send you an email to confirm receipt of the items that I received and I will give you an ID number. You may think that it is impractical for me to consign my books, especially with the expense of mailing books to us. Consider this: If you were to ship us 25 books weighing 30 pounds or less (using Media Mail at the USPS), the shipping charge would be $13. If those books sold for an average price of $6, the gross income from those books would be $150. Now at a 60% consignment rate less shipping, you would net $77. If you have books of higher value, you could profit more than this. I look forward to working with you soon. Sincerely, Lolita Johnson 678-977-2181 Email: mvcconsignments@yahoo.com This is not for any particular homeschool group. However, I'd like to invite homeschool TEENS to come join us on Monday afternoons, starting Januarty 8th at Griffin First United Methodist Church from 2 PM to 4 PM. This is a time for fun and fellowship, while also getting a little exercise squeezed in, too. The church has a wonderful gymnasium and an indoor walking track. Cost is only $1 per person. Please pay at the registration desk when you sign in. This is not a structured program, just a time for fun and fitness. This can count toward the President's Physical Fitness Challenge, too.It is up to the teen as to what activity he/she would like to do. If there is enough interest, I think there is also a room for volleyball. You may bring a water bottle. Water fountains and vending machines are available in the locker area. However, no food or drinks are allowed in gymnasium area. Even if there are just 1 or 2 interested, go ahead, have fun on the walking track or on the basketball court. No RSVP is required. I will try to be there every week as long as my schedule permits. I know that everyone's schedule gets busy quick. I just thought we'd try to have a TEEN play date for those who can come. If you need more information you may call Mrs. Jennifer at the church or you can contact Hello Home School Students and Parents, Our Home School Day this winter will be on Monday January 29th, 2007. We will have home school discounts on tickets and gift shop items and will offer free auditorium programs throughout the day. Special Behind-the-Scenes tours will be offered during the day also, but remember that you must pay for your Behind-the-Scenes tickets when you purchase your tickets for the aquarium. Please join us for a day at the Tennessee Aquarium that will be dedicated to you and your family. It will be a great opportunity to meet fellow home school families. We had over 700 home school visitors for our September home school day so come visit us this January.

Take care, and I hope to see you in January. Bray McDonald Educator Tennessee Aquarium BRM@tnaqua.org The Air Force Auxiliary's Civil Air Patrol's Cadet program is open to Males and Females between the ages of 12 and 18 years. The Cadet program is dedicated to Aerospace Education, Leadership, Moral Leadership, and Drug Demand Reduction. Cadets are able to participate at Encampments held locally and nationally such as Space Command (Cape Kennedy - Patrick AFB, FL or NORAD - Peterson AFB, CO), National Blue Beret (flightline marshalling for Oshkosh, WI yearly airshow), Glider School (Rome, GA), Hawk Mountain Ranger School (mountain search & rescue training, PA) and others including Flight Academy, National Band, Weather School, Ground Search & Rescue School, just to name a few. A summer Encampment is held each year in Georgia (Ft. Benning in 2005/2006) as well as a Winter Regional Encampment (Ft. Benning - 2006). Encampment experiences vary somewhat from State to State but at Ft. Benning, for example, in 2006 the Cadets participated in the repelling tower, jump tower, M-16 computer simulator shooting range, and flights in BlackHawk helicopters. The Cadet program combines discipline (without hazing or harassing) and structure to teach leadership skills as well as advanced aerospace education. The Civil Air Patrol's Cadet Program is the perfect alternative to traditional Public School's JROTC program. There is no requirement to join any branch of Service in armed forces at any time, the program is designed to teach tomorrow's leaders the skills that are required for a professional career. However, if your homeschooler is interested in an ROTC Scholarship or attending a Military Academy, this program can set them above other applicants. We have had many Cadets over the past few years earn scholarships and Academy appointments due to their work and participation Civil Air Patrol (including several home schooled Cadets). The Griffin Cadet Squadron meets the first three Saturdays of each month from 0845 (8:45 AM) until 1300 (1:00 PM) at the southwest corner of the Griffin/Spalding County Airport. We have earned the honor of "Squadron of the Year" for 2003 and 2005. For more information contact Captain Tim O'Connor at: tkoconnor717@aol.com.
